Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

More than 225 synchronized swimmers from across Canada and the Americas will be at Calgary’s Talisman Centre for Synchro Canada’s 2016 Canadian Open Championships. The championships are the culmination of the 2016 competitive season for Canadian junior (ages 16 to 18) and senior athletes who will be competing for national crowns in 10 different events over the course of the week. Ever wanted to learn a fun, professionally-choreographed dance routine but never had the opportunity? Here’s your chance! Sharing Dance is an initiative motivating Canadians to participate in free, healthy, fun and creative dance activities. In partnership with Sharing Dance, Wildflower Arts Centre is offering free dance classes to encourage people of all ages and abilities to learn this year’s Sharing Dance Routine. The classes will be held from 3:30 to 4:30pm on Saturdays between April 30 and May 28. Choreographed by Kevin Ormsby, the Artistic Director of KasheDance, the routine is inspired by Afro-Caribbean culture and set to Jully Black’s Sweat of Your Brow. Participants range from 7 to 90! This is a great chance for you to get some exercise and have fun. On Sharing Dance Day, which will take place on June 3rd, you can gather your family and friends and perform with your community!
