Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Celebrating 25 Years of preparing Preschoolers for Kindergarten

Symons Valley Ranch is hosting Calgary's first and only Ice Festival! The month long event will showcase ice sculptures and sculpting by local artists against the backdrop of north west Calgary's only year round Farmers' Market. Finally, there's a winter ice festival in your backyard!

Local Authors Deborah Fannie Miller and Judy Arnall present on handling children's and parents' anger. This session will include a reading from the children's book, Grappling with the Grumblies, from author Deborah Fannie Miller, for the children and a presentation on Parenting With Patience from Judy Arnall. Embracing grumblies is a job all families get to enjoy and this session will empower you with lots of ideas for making anger work for your family.

Lougheed House is pleased to present the work of renowned Calgary based photographer, George Webber. This exhibition of recent work underscores the photographer’s fascination with the formal beauty of this abandoned and feral industrial site. George Webber has been photographing the people, landscape and urban environment of the Canadian west for over 35 years and has received numerous awards for his photography. His work can be found in museums and archives in Canada, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Australia. This exhibit is part of the Exposure Photography Festival, presenting photography exhibits and special events across Alberta.

In a world where we are subjected to constant digital overload, a boy dreams. In his subconscious world, the images are pixilated and fractalized. His sleeping state is an interface where reality and technology merge. If a person has digital dreams, is this a new kind of human? Dreaming Now uses new media and interactive technologies to explore a world where we are all connected. Recommended for ages 7 and up.
