Pysanky for Peace is a Ukrainian artwork fundraiser intended to raise funds and support for Ukrainians who have been displaced or otherwise impacted by the war in Ukraine. A group of more than 20 local artists led by pysanka master Daena Diduck, will design 50 three dimensional eggs (in honour of Southcentre’s 50th anniversary this year), ranging from a few inches to nearly five feet tall. The eggs will be displayed at the mall as public art until the end of the month and will be available for purchase in exchange for a donation to WUNDERfund, a nonprofit that provides humanitarian aid to Ukrainians locally and abroad.

Enjoy a cup of cider or hot chocolate and immerse yourself in tales expertly crafted by our speaker. On March 31, join storyteller Julius Hirsch for an hour of tales from Blackfoot culture. Julius Hirsch is a status member of the Northern Piikani Nation in Brocket, Alberta who grew up around the Blackfoot Ceremony learning oral stories from the elders on both sides of his family. Julius is passionate about leading tours and educating others about Blackfoot history and the early contact with the North West Mounted Police. Julius is currently a third-year student at the University of Calgary majoring in History, and his previous work experience includes several years in the military as a reservist and Fort Whoop-Up in Lethbridge’s Indian Battle Park.
