17th Ave is one of Calgary’s favorite entertainment districts, and for good reason. This iconic street has tons of amazing businesses ranging from award-winning restaurants and local boutiques to luxurious spas and salons, wellness services and more. It’s also home to two city parks, both ideal spots for an afternoon picnic or a little bit of people watching, and oftentimes the host of a variety of family-friendly events. Whether you’re looking to spend an afternoon patio hopping between the many fabulous eateries, treating yourself to a little retail therapy, or enjoying a picnic in the park, you can do it on 17th Ave.
Let’s face it, one of the great differences between being a grandparent and a parent is the availability of more disposable income to buy all the things for the grandkids that you couldn’t previously afford. I suggest that “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”
For many families, conversations about aging parents don’t happen until there is no other option. They take place after a fall, a tumultuous drive home, or a health scare that leaves everyone scrambling. That’s when adult children and their parents are suddenly asking big questions about housing, health care, driving, and independence (under pressure and with little time to think).
