Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

Penguin Walk at the Calgary Zoo.

2020 marks the 8th year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! The king penguin colony heads out on the zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk in the winter months and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions.

UNGANISHA 2020 Production.

UNGANISHA: Explore. Connect. Dance is a dance theatre show bringing together five popular dance genres with roots on the diverse continent of Africa. Through movement and storytelling an all-Calgary team of dancers, actors, and choreographers journey through Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Cuban, Hip Hop, Step, and Tap dance to celebrate their genesis, their contemporary popularity, and their ability to connect us across cultures and continents. There are shows at 2 and 7pm. Artists, Vendors, not-for-profit community associations, and Black History Month exhibits will be on-site at the Free Cultural Fair in the Studio of the venue from 3:30 to 6:30pm. There will be art and products on sale. Early-bird tickets are available until January 13 at www.showpass.com/unganisha/
