Earth Hour 2024.

Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

You can register any time between now and August 31 with your free Library card! All kids must register with their own Library card, and you can get a free card online.? For teens, there's the Ultimate Summer Challenge: Teen Takeover. Track your reading through the website or app and complete fun, creative challenges to earn digital badges. The more badges you earn, the more chances you have to win.??

Come and enjoy an afternoon listening to stories and some of Canada’s finest musicians. Storyteller/Musician Samantha Whelan Kotkas and her friends will entertain you and your children with musical interactive tales of child-accessible hikes in the Rocky Mountains. Teach your child about courage, unity, joyfulness, and caring in an afternoon of fun and adventure. An event for the whole family that you will want to be a part of. Recommended for children aged 5 to 12, but created with the entire family in mind. Come one hour before the show & enjoy family friendly activities. Stay after to meet the performers. Community Pancake Drive-Thru, Presented by GMC at Southcentre Mall.

This free celebration will bring the community together as a reminder that although Stampede may look different this year, community spirit can never be cancelled! You need need to register online to secure your spot in line on July 11. The event will have capacity to provide Stampede-style pancake breakfasts to up to 1,250 vehicles (no cap on the number of people in each vehicle) and each vehicle will register for a specific timeslot to pick up their meals between 9am and noon. Registration closes at noon on July 10 or when the maximum number of vehicles have been registered. Unregistered vehicles or walk-ins will only be accommodated if volumes allow. In order to adhere to best practices for social distancing, meals will be served to guests in vehicles - meals cannot be served to guests on foot, bicycles, scooters, etc. Registered guests will be asked to print off their confirmations (or have them available on their phones) and volunteers will check them in upon arrival at Southcentre. Meals will include a delicious selection of fresh pancakes off the grill, sausage, syrup, and juice and will be served in closed lid clamshell containers.

TELUS Spark is Reopening July 11.

Get your science on! This is it - your science centre is reopening and adapted for you to visit safely. It’s not exactly as you remember it. You will follow an eclectic pathway experience with larger-than-life inflatables and art pieces, BODY WORLDS: ANIMAL INSIDE OUT, the brand-new Superpower Dogs film in the Dome Theatre, and access to the Spark Store stocked with science-inspired fun things you just can't find anywhere else! The hands-on exhibit galleries can't yet be opened. Spark's got you covered! You must reserve your time slot tickets and purchase them online; follow the floor decals to maintain social distance and help guide you through the science centre; hand sanitizer will be provided for visitors and staff; masks will be available for purchase in the Spark Store. Science says masks are the best way to prevent spreading COVID. Please prepare to wear a mask for the indoor portions of your visit. High-touch points in visitor and staff areas will have an increased frequency of cleaning (with procedures as required by AHS). There will be food for purchase at Spark located next to the Spark Store. Outdoor areas will be cleaned following AHS guidelines with more frequent cleaning. Structures where social distancing is not possible will be closed. To purchase a timed ticket, visit the website.

Teddy Bears will be hiding throughout the mall with "Beary” special names waiting to be found. Visit the Atrium for the Scavenger Hunt card and when you’ve found all of the bears, enter to win a Teddy Bear Prize Basket!
