Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Bring the family out to help the Easter Bunny, visit with all of the Spring farmyard babies, and kids will partake in a fun springtime craft! When the Elders of the Community choose him to be the Receiver of Memory, Jonas starts a journey to uncover the truth of this place he has always called home. The more he learns, the more he realizes the Community has systematically given up much of what gives life its meaning: color, music, truth, and love. At the end of the story, Jonas faces a decision that will define him and, ultimately, set a course toward hope. This show is recommended for ages 10 and up. Mad Science Keep in Touch Preschool Workshop. Brought to you by The Calgary Public Library, presented by Mad Science. Children will learn how sensitive their fingertips are by seeing how difficult it is to identify objects when different senses are dulled. Spring Rally in the Alley at Gasoline Alley Museum, Heritage Park Historical Village. Play challenging games, create car-themed crafts, and get revved up for all sorts of fun activities throughout the museum during this family-friendly indoor event.

Take place now through March 31. 2019 Marks the 7th Year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions. *Note: If the temperature warms up to +5ºC, drops to below -25ºC, or the wind exceeds 20km/h, it will be cancelled for the safety of the penguins. Please check the zoo's homepage and social media channels for any updates to the walk due to weather.

This film series will feature five Canadian Screen Award-nominated films, with a different one being screened every Saturday, between March 2 and March 30, leading up to the live Canadian Screen Awards broadcast on Sunday, March 31.
