Calgary has many wonderful parks and playgrounds. Here’s a list of some of the best Calgary has to offer to put on your bucket list this year.

  1. Shouldice Park Playground

Shouldice Park - 4900 Monserrat Drive NW

One of the most inclusive and best playgrounds in Calgary will be a hit with kids of all ages and abilities. This playground is located in a lovely park and includes musical features, tons of options for spinning, swinging, and bouncing, a huge ramp system, and interesting climbers. The park is located along the river and has bookable picnic sites.

 

  1. Prairie Winds Park Natural Playground

Westwinds/Castleridge - 233 Castleridge Boulevard NE.

This playground is located in NE Calgary’s largest recreation park. It is a different style of playground from most in the city, as it uses a ‘natural playground’ setting with hills, slides set into a hill, and a long double zipline. This playground is also right next to the new wading pool with a lazy river and spray park, and the accessible south playground is only a short walk away. Prairie Springs is a real destination park.

 

  1. South Glenmore Park Inclusive Playground

South Glenmore Park just keeps getting better. This Variety Children’s Park was one of the first accessible playgrounds in the city. In recent years, the park has gained a bike pump track as well as a music garden a short distance away from the main playground. Recently, the main play area next to the spray park was replaced with a new inclusive playground.

Somerset - 999 Somerset Drive SW

The new inclusive playground and spray park has turned Somerset Park from a good park to a great park. The park has so much to offer and is a great place for a wide age range. It is one of the best all-around family fun parks in the city. The playground has some really great features, such as the cool rope climber which will be a hit with bigger kids, and the ground level merry-go-round which all kids will love.

 

  1. Seton - Elsa’s Tower Playground

Seton - 91 Seton Gardens SE

This eye-catching, inclusive playground in Seton is a great community space for people of all ages and quickly became a Calgary favorite. The playground has a lot to offer, from inclusive features like the accessible flooring, to the covered picnic area, as well as some super fun equipment like the tall tower and roller slide.

 

  1. Coventry Hills Parkour Park

Coventry Hills - 980 Coventry Drive NE

This playground is really different from other Calgary playgrounds. It is intended for an older age group and is geared towards parkour. Parkour involves moving around different obstacles by doing things like jumping and climbing, and can also feature some really cool tricks.

 

  1. Tuxedo Corner Playground

Tuxedo - 202 - 29 Avenue NE

This playground is brand new in 2023 and is a great new addition to the community. The playground has an eye-catching, inviting look, and is packed with fun equipment to explore. It has great features for kids of a wide variety of ages and abilities. With ground level features, accessible flooring, and interesting climbing equipment, this playground is a definite winner.

Flyover Park is a unique inner city park that has a playground set into the hillside. This playground looks really cool and the play value is really there too. Effort has been made to make this park appeal to people of many different ages.

 

  1. Ramsay Inclusive Playground

Ramsay - Macdonald Avenue SE and Bellevue Avenue SE

One of the coolest new playgrounds in Calgary, Ramsay Inclusive Playground is spread across two different tiers connected by an accessible pathway. The playground has really great views of downtown.

 

  1. Alpine Park Playground

Alpine Park - Treeline Manor and Treeline Avenue SW

Located in a new Calgary neighborhood, Alpine Park is a really beautiful park space with pathways, trees, and a large picnic area. 

The playground features natural playground equipment, wooden play structures, logs, and tall slides.
